i miss my civic, like PAINFULLY so. like... i MAY have called some CL ads offering my impreza for trade on a replacement civic. BUT... i sleep better. I kid you not (sadly) I would often awake with fears of the civic stolen and found stripped. and that simply does not happen anymore. ahhhhh, i sleep the sleep of a non-modified-civic-owner

Hopefully as a non-modified Civic owner, I can sleep easy. I found the original window sticker in the pile of paper work. How time flies, I didn’t know you could still buy a new car in ‘99 for $11,065.

I once had a dream I owned a yellow Integra Type R. In the dream I kept chasing off people who were trying to steal it.

Sounds about right, I bought a 2000 LX Sedan for a bit more than that as my first new car.

Don’t tell anyone else this, but I bought a brand new car for 12k in 2014.

That’s what happens when the only new vehicles I’ve bought in the past decade have been trucks. You lose touch with regular car prices. My sister in law bought a new Dart a few years back for $9995.

That’s how my Integra disappeared. It’s been two-and-a-half years since and there are nights where I still can’t sleep because I keep think they’ll be back.
Say what you will about keyless ignition, but I don’t worry about that with the Miata or the Camry with their immobilizers and security systems.

Off topic, know a place to get EP3 Type R wheels? 5x114.3 so yours wont fit the bill :(

I’ve never bought a Honda/Acura that didn’t have a Club in the trunk.
The threat is real. I installed a kill switch and a hidden relay for the ignition. If I want to be extra secure I pop the relay out of the base and put it in my pocket.

I owned a ‘94 MR Integra. I loved that car. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss it. It had a lot done to it and I spent a lot of time on that car. Man, I miss it. However, what I don’t miss is the constant nagging feeling that my car would be stolen. I installed a hidden kill switch and since it was a RS, it did not have a sunroof or power locks. I added an alarm and even paid more per month at my apartment for a garage specifically to defend that car.
Loved the car, just not being awoken at night because I thought I heard something and running outside to check the car. Or leaving the theater just to check on my car. I even had a few people who I know did not live in my apartment complex follow me to see where I park at night. Also had some guys trying to take my ITR lip and spoiler off one day outside of Kroger. In the middle of the day!

I know the feel. I had my 2000 Civic coupe stolen in the middle of the night a few years ago. I had the O2 sensor out because I was replacing it, so I was awoken by the sound of my basically open header car being driven away. That’s a terrible feeling to wake up hearing that and knowing that it’s your car.
The police actually found it surprisingly, but I sold it not long after.

I went pretty far. I had kill switches, and tracking devices, and I always locked it, and I always turn the steering so it locked, and I always pulled the ECU, and the ECU wiring was altered so you couldnt just plug in a different ECU.
but nothing stops a tow truck, and so many in the honda/acura community will tell you.

I helped a friend by an integra GSR for her son, it was stolen days after he got it. miraculously found across town in a completely garbage neighborhood with only the battery missing. Apparently battery acid is necessary for some drug cooking. The car was found outside a known drug house, or so say the cops.

wow. thats bold, to not even steal the car and take it somewhere, to just try and take parts in the parking lot.

Indeed it is. I also had some kid ask to purchase the side skirts for $80 at a QT one day. I declined and he then took a picture of my car and said “watch out, I will get the whole car” and hopped in his clapped out 240 and drove off. That was when I thought to myself “Garage. Definitely”.

I had an acquaintance, a kid I had met through like a troubled youths type program. he pulled up next to me in an s2000 and was admiring my car. We pulled over and got to chatting about our various mods, I was deeply loath to tell him about mine, as I knew he had been a car thief not long ago. His parting words were similar but more third persony, something like “well be careful, I know my friends would love to snag it in the middle of the night”

He was fortunate. Mine wasn’t too bad, but the thieves busted out the radio/AC control section to put a radio in, and of course the ignition switch was jacked. They also had a bunch of tools in the car, and put an aftermarket billet oil cap on the engine lol. There was also a huge stack of CDs. I basically got some free screwdrivers and hammers, and a little Leatherman Squirt ES4 that I still carry on my keychain.

Yeah no thanks. That always freaked me out. Like at car shows when someone says “That is so nice. Be careful nobody snatches it...” or the guy who is super interested in the interior of my car and is looking around a bit too much but he would ignore any attempt to talk to me. Or the people who would ask all about my B20 swap and ask how much it was worth etc. I never enjoyed much of that.
